Memory and Present of Fuenquesada, Exceptional Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Memory

There is no more valuable heritage than childhood. Memories of games in front of the mansion on the estate remain etched in our memory. The vast olive grove seemed to keep us safe. It was like being on an island; a paradise of games under the sun.

Bread and oil on the white tablecloth. Freshly picked olives. That taste stays with you forever. The family gathered around the table, under the grapevine, with children running and jumping amidst the smiles of the elders.

There is something of Machadian goodness in all of that.

One learns to love the olive tree playing in the shelter of its shade. And as the years pass, the need arises to thank those who made those blue days possible.

Uncle Pedro Quesada always dedicated himself to the things of the land on his estate in Las Fuentezuelas, inherited from his parents. He and his wife had no children, and the estate passed to their nephews, who always understood that the days lived in the old property in Jaén should not be lost.

Fuenquesada extra virgin olive oil is a way to keep those memories, those emotions alive. And it is also a way to thank those who came before us for preserving this legacy for future generations. Because the olive grove of Las Fuentezuelas belongs to those who will come.

At the origin of Fuenquesada extra virgin olive oil is the essence of the Quesada family that has linked us to the countryside of Jaén for centuries. There are places made of emotion.

Las Fuentezuelas and the Quesada —Fuenquesada— form a union based on loyalty, respect, and commitment to ancestral ways of understanding olive production, whose fruit is this exceptional quality extra virgin olive oil, recognized internationally wherever it has been presented.

Producing such oil has no secret other than these three pillars: loyalty to those who came before us, respect for the olive tree, and commitment to maintaining the highest quality of this valuable treasure, this unique extra virgin olive oil.

There is no teacher like time. Years and years of struggle with the elements, by the olive trees, have brought us here. If Fuenquesada extra virgin olive oil is so exceptional, it is because we have remained true to a purely artisanal production process.

Present

Our harvests are limited, and precisely for that reason, we can maintain absolute control over each stage of its production, from nighttime harvesting to bottling and marketing. Fuenquesada extra virgin is living memory. Therefore, nothing can be left to chance.

We produce our extra virgin exclusively with picual variety olives, and for our latest harvest —the 23rd— we have emphasized memory through a moving artistic intervention carried out by the painter Fátima Moreno in the olive grove.

The result is a work of art that celebrates the senses —memory, when wrapped in emotion, is felt with full intensity—. A piece of our memory in the form of a collector's canvas accompanies the exclusive 2000 bottles of 500 ml packaged in a canister.

We feel deeply grateful to be part of this so Andalusian, so Mediterranean, and so lively lineage. We are aware of the fortune it is to, in the 21st century, have the opportunity to maintain the methods of producing extra virgin olive oil as it has been done since time immemorial.

We are convinced that Uncle Pedro and Aunt Conchita would feel proud and satisfied.
